Rob Asselstine - Composer, Arranger, Producer, Piano Player

PERSONAL:

Robert (Rob) Asselstine was born in 1953 and grew up in Wallaceburg, Ontario Canada. Growing up in close proximity to Detroit and being a child of the the 60’s, the magic of Motown as well as the amazing sounds of the British invasion, The Band, early Elton John and more shaped Rob’s musical life.

FAMILY:

Married, 2 daughters, 2 Sons-In-Law, 5 grandchildren!

CAREER:

1974 through 1980: Rob worked as a “Studio Musician” (Piano), Writer, Arranger and Producer at Mercey Brothers’ Recording Studio, Elmira, Ontario. During this period Rob was instrumental in performing on, arranging and producing much of the Country Music played on Canadian Radio stations and was recognized and respected throughout the industry. In 1982, Rob’s work had nominations in every category of the Canadian Country Music Awards. As well, with The Elmira Jingle Factory, Rob composed, arranged, performed on and produced over 300 commercial music tracks for Radio and Television.

1980 through 2001: While continuing his musical life on a freelance basis, Rob enjoyed a successful career in Broadcast sales with several Ontario Radio stations and companies. Finishing his Broadcast career with the CHUM group, Rob was a 5 time “Presidents Ring” winner and was recognized as one of CHUM’s most successful Account Executives.

2001 to the present: in 2001, Rob formed RGAMedia Inc. an independent production company in the business of designing, creating and producing Music based content for Concert, Theatre and Film.

2004 to the present: Most of the RGAMedia Inc. productions have been created for play at Fallsview Casino Resort, Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. Some have also played throughout Canada and abroad.

AWARDS and RECOGNITION:

1979: Rob received a certified (C.C.R.A) “Gold” record for his work on the Mercey Brothers album “Comin’ On Stronger”.

1982: at the CCMA (Canadian Country Music Awards) awards in 1982, Rob had projects nominated in EVERY category.

2001: one of Rob’s short films ("EVERMORE" from his FRANKENSTEIN project) won “The Sir Tim Rice Award – Excellence in Music in a Short Film” at the Marco Island (Florida) Film Festival.

Rob is one of the original-contributing founders of the New York Musical Theatre Festival.
